New BMW Speedtop concept unveiled – Is this V8 Shooting Brake the coolest BMW of all time?
Is this the coolest BMW ever? In any case, the strictly limited BMW Speedtop is a hot candidate for the title.
- New BMW Speedtop concept unveiled
- V8 Shooting Brake in small series
- Strong design language on the exterior
- 625 hp of the M8 engine
The new BMW Speedtop is the latest concept car from Munich and, like the BMW Skytop convertible unveiled a year earlier, has once again attracted the attention of all car fans. As a Shooting Brake version of the convertible, the designers have once again achieved a great success.
Under the beautiful shell of the new concept car, the BMW Speedtop shares the technical characteristics with the BMW M8 Competition and will become an absolute collector's item in the future. After all, the Speedtop is only to be built in a small series of 70 vehicles.
New BMW Speedtop – Design
Last year's Skytop had made waves and the Speedtop is very similar to the convertible. In contrast to more polarizing designs from BMW in recent years, such as the BMW XM, there is hardly any reason to complain about the Skytop and the new Speedtop, the vehicles are simply a feast for the eyes.

At the front, there is the iconic "Sharknose" design, which is reminiscent of the Z8 Roadster and scores with narrow front lights and wide kidney grille.

The difference to the Skytop is particularly visible in the profile. After all, the Speedtop is a shooting brake and therefore a glamorous two-door station wagon with an extra dose of elegance.

Towards the rear, the muscular wheel arches and the large roof spoiler are striking. The thin LED taillights and large oval tailpipes also underline the dynamism of the design.
New BMW Speedtop – drive and performance

Under the hood of the Shooting Brake is a 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine with all-wheel drive and 625 hp, as we know it from the BMW M8. We don't have exact performance figures yet, but the Speedtop should cover the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h at a similar speed to the M8, i.e. in just under 3.2 seconds.
New BMW Speedtop – Interior

Inside, the Speedtop is based on the BMW 8 Series, so it doesn't look quite as unique as the exterior, but the interior has received a major upgrade. For example, there is an exclusive two-tone leather interior made of white and brown leather for this car, which extends over significantly more parts of the interior.

With a complete leather interior in the trunk, even this exudes exclusivity and luxury.
New BMW Speedtop – sales launch and price
BMW has already announced that there will only be 70 Speedtops. So if you want one of these collector's items, you should strike quickly, after all, the orders for it are already open. In terms of price, the Speedtop will probably only start beyond € 500,000, after all, it is strictly limited.
